В Sword of the Stars 2 игроки собирают космические флоты, завоёвывают звёздные системы, занимаются исследованием инопланетных технологий и управляют галактической империей. Enhanced Edition включает в себя различные скачиваемые материалы, Sword of the Stars II: The Lords of Winter и дополнение End of Flesh, добавляющее в игру новую фракцию, Loa. Кроме того, Enhanced Edition приносит в игру кибернетическое древо технологий, 10 орудий и атак, а также новые космические корабли и звёздные карты.
